The consequences of climate change terrify Stephen Achal, especially the ever-increasing number of catastrophic wildfires. Accordingly, Stephen, the CEO and cofounder of Calgary-based 4pi Lab, is being proactive by developing powerful space-based solutions and technologies to slow climate change. One of Stephen’s main initiatives at 4pi Lab is to develop satellite-based solutions to help eradicate catastrophic wildfires globally. Stephen, an experimental astrophysicist by training, has over 30 years of experience in designing and selling state-of-the-art and commercially successful spaceborne and airborne earth observation systems. Stephen has also developed and patented several of the leading airborne real-time wildfire mapping instrumentation and technologies that are widely used today.
