Kathryn Wortsman is the Founder & Managing Partner of Amplify Capital, a Canadian based impact venture fund focused on early stage technology companies solving for climate sustainability, improved education, and better health. Amplify seeks superior financial returns by leading with, and measuring and delivering quantitative impact in each investment.
Kathryn started her career in investment banking at RBC and then went on to spend most of her 25 year career investing and managing venture capital and private equity in small to medium sized businesses both in New York and Toronto. In New York, Kathryn was a Principal with Constellation Ventures, a Bear Stearns sponsored venture capital fund and an Investment Director for the strategic insurance technology investments group for MetLife
Her passion in social finance was born 15 years ago when she joined Social Venture Partners NYC and then subsequently founded Social Venture Partners Toronto. Amplify Capital was launched in 2016 in collaboration with MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.
Today, Kathryn leads the team of 7 at Amplify Capital covering two funds with more than $40M AUM and sits on a number of boards across the Portfolio.
Kathryn holds a BA in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from Columbia University in New York. Kathryn is based in Toronto, Canada.
